As predictable as spring, green algae in the clarifier. Or is it?

It is a sure sign of spring, the algae growing again in your wastewater clarifier due to warming temperatures and released phosphorus. That green mess can clog weirs and cause violations of your TSS limits. It is inevitable. Or is it?

Removing phosphorus from wastewater using Neo WaterFX prevents green clarifiers.

Traditional phosphorus removing coagulants will release the phosphorus they have adsorbed when conditions change – lower dissolved oxygen (DO) from rising temperatures or shifts in pH can cause the loosely bound phosphorus to be released back into your effluent. This phosphorus, along with the longer days (more light) and rising temperatures fuels the algal blooms so common in the spring and through the summer.

WaterFX lanthanide bonding makes the difference, holding phosphorus tight even as conditions change.

WaterFX holds on to phosphorus tightly, in a dense, crystalline precipitate. This tight bond is not impacted by changes in temperature, pH or DO. WaterFX prevents the release of phosphorus and prevents algae from taking hold. The result is clear effluent even through the summer.

Reduced maintenance through the spring and summer.

One main benefit of the tight bonding and algae prevention is that there is a sharp reduction in the maintenance required for the clarifiers. Operators have told us one of their favorite features of the switch to Water FX is that there is no more scrubbing of weirs. Combine that with the ease of dosage, the “set it and forget it” compliance reliability, and WaterFX is a sure winner for your phosphorus removal.

Whether year-round or seasonal, WaterFX can meet your wastewater plant’s P requirements with flexibility and reliability.

Clear clarifiers are just one of the many benefits of phosphorus removal with WaterFX. Check out what one client, Dallas, Georgia, discovered after making the switch to WaterFX. See the details here.
